The Robert N. Wilentz School first opened its doors in September 2000. Their school includes a state of the art kindergarten wing, nurses suite, music room, art room with a kiln, cafetorium, a large gymnasium, computer lab and an internet accessible media center. Robert N. Wilentz School is one among the ranks of schools across the country that are committed to the values of education. Mariela Freay was born in Colombia and came to the U.S. in 1966. She is very well respected by her peers in the educational field and in her community. When asked what her secret to success is, she boldly says, “her respect for people and always willing to listen and help when she is able”.
Mariela Freay received the Teacher of the Year Award for school year 2012-2013 at Robert N. Wilentz School, Perth Amboy, NJ. She was the recipient of the PROJECT PEERS Scholarship, New Jersey City University, NJ, Masters Special Education, Bilingual Education Endorsement. Mariela Freay was one of the Founding Mothers Chi Upsilon Sigma, Latin Sorority, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ and also belongs to the Club Colombia USA. Active member and leader at Holy Trinity Church, Hackensack, NJ – Trustee, Liturgy Committee, Finance Committee. Mariela has a Bachelor Degree from Rutgers and a Masters in Education from New Jersey City University. Both degrees were attained through scholarships.
